Man Hits Woman and Gets a Medal

 Boys have always been taught that it is wrong to hit a girl. However, the Olympics have recently allowed such to take place. A man who was pretending to be a woman fought a woman in a boxing match, and unsurprisingly, won. He hit the woman in the face so hard that she could not continue the match. The lack of outrage is disturbing. If this took place in an ordinary home, the man would be thrown in jail for domestic violence. Yet our society applauds this man for doing what he believes is right. But, is it right?

 The issue involved here is what has been termed as transgenderism. Webster's defines this as, of, relating to, or being a person whose gender identity differs from the sex the person was identified as having at birth. So, someone says that he does not feel like he is a male, even though he was born a male, and thus claims he is really a female. But just because somebody makes a claim does not necessarily make it true. Claims have to be verified. Also, is it even possible for someone to change his or her gender? 

 Jesus, the Son of God, described the creation process of human beings in the context of a discussion about marriage and divorce. In speaking of God's plan for the permanency of marriage, he asked the Jewish leaders, "Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh? Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder" (Matthew 19:4-6). Jesus said that God made people and that he made them male and female. That statement tells us a couple of things. One, that there are only two genders: male and female. The second thing is that God made them that way. If God is absolutely perfect and never makes any mistakes, then how can someone say that he should have been created a female or vice-versa? In truth, someone cannot say that without saying God made a mistake. 

 Therefore, transgenderism is not of God; rather, it is a perversion of God's created order. For Adam was first formed, then Eve (1 Timothy 2:13). Notice what God told his people through Moses: The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman’s garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the Lord thy God (Deuteronomy 22:5). An abomination means a thing that causes disgust or hatred (New Oxford American Dictionary). God is disgusted by and hates transgenderism. God tells the people this for their good and welfare (cf. Deut. 10:13). Therefore, for one to go through the process of transgenderism is to do something that goes against the welfare of that person, and sins against God. 

 The apostle Paul makes the appeal to be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God (Romans 12:2). There are many souls who are troubled and confused in this world, and they are looking for answers. The way of the devil promises freedom, but it only leads to misery and separation from the Father of spirits (Hebrews 12:9). The way of God is for our good and it is perfect. If one walks in it, then he can be free from sin and be at peace with his Creator by the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Transgenderism does not provide peace. There is a better way.  Brotherly, Jamie
